Harshvardhan is retiring in mid-next year and sources say the name of the next foreign secretary is not finalized. Jaishankar, Foreign Minister, is very close to the present ambassador of India in USA. Presently the USA is close to the country and to bring both countries closure the efforts of Taranjeet Sandhu can not be ignored but sources say Ajit Doval is in favor of Kawatra, presently posted in Nepal but before this in Paris. His efforts to bring France and Nepal close to the country are significant and very difficult to ignore, sources say. Interest tug of war is probably going on behind the curtain between two very strong pillars of the government and the selection of the candidate will show who is more powerful in the present setup?
