In a significant development, it has been learned from top sources that PM's Principal Secretary, P.K Mishra, is under the spotlight for the next LG Delhi. Sources add that top brass might think of taking a soft departure from the practice of sidelining bureaucrats for governorship for a few states or UTs. The reason for zeroing over Mishra's name as Saxena's successor in Delhi is perhaps guided by three factors:-
First—Fine-tuning bureaucratic machines in the Delhi government—At present, sources say bureaucratic efficiency is not increasing at the expected pace. With Mishra at the helm, there is hope for a beacon guiding the administration towards systemic efficiency, instilling much-needed seriousness in Delhi's governance.
Second—Streamlining and Strategizing Big Plans: Mishra is a hard taskmaster with sagacious administrative skills. This will help in effectively planning long-term development goals with the Delhi Government.
Third—An effective communication grid with the centre is one of the key reasons that Mishra's governorship in Delhi will provide. This will ensure fast-paced and timely coordination and service delivery at policy execution levels, fostering optimism about the changes in Delhi's socio-economic picture.
While new Delhi LG appointment will take time and require certain level of discussion at top brass it must be noted that centre has an opportunity to explore some good options in bureaucratic space especially for Delhi if it intends to speed up governance and maintain quality service delivery in the capital in coming years.
