New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) today organized a Felicitation Ceremony to honour its best-performing Field staff under the ongoing “Dilli Ko Kude Se Aazadi” Campaign, a part of the broader Swachhata Campaign. The initiative was held in the spirit of Independence Month, recognizing the tireless contributions of NDMC’s frontline sanitation and support staff in upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards across New Delhi. The ceremony was graced by Vice Chairman, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, NDMC Member – Anil Valmiki, Secretary NDMC Tariq Thomas, MOH, Dr Shakuntala Srivastava and senior officers of NDMC who collectively applauded the ground staff’s relentless service.

In his address at the felicitation ceremony, Keshav Chandra said that in the last half year, we have brought about a huge change in cleanliness in the New Delhi area by working hard, the results of which are in front of everyone. He said that it is the result of everyone's collective efforts that NDMC was awarded with the Super Swachhata League Award at the national level in the Swachh Survekshan.

He said that after the monsoon, the target has been set that no footpath in the NDMC area should be broken, no area should be muddy without greenery. So that there is no possibility of garbage accumulating anywhere. With such small efforts, we will move forward one step at a time in cleanliness and will work hard to achieve the first rank in the Swachh Survekshan next year.

On the occasion, Keshav Chandra, Chairman, NDMC, presented certificates of appreciation to the top-performing 45 Safaikarmis, Swachh Mitras and staff members from the Sanitation, Horticulture and Civil Engineering Departments. These awards acknowledged their outstanding dedication, consistent efforts and remarkable contributions towards making New Delhi cleaner and greener.

Speaking at the event, Keshav Chandra emphasized that the felicitation of NDMC’s “Swachhata Warriors” is not only recognition of past achievements but also a reminder that cleanliness is a continuous mission. By honouring its frontline staff, NDMC reaffirmed its pledge to not only maintain but also raise the bar of urban sanitation standards, inspiring every citizen to make cleanliness a way of life, he said. On this occasion, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal said that the country gives us everything, we should also learn to give our best to the country in return, so that we do our work with full dedication. He said that the campaign to free Delhi from garbage is the Delhi version of the Hon’ble Prime Minister's Swachh Bharat Mission. If we work diligently in this, then just like our country is changing, we can also change Delhi and New Delhi, there is no doubt in this.Chahal gave the credit of New Delhi Municipal Council's inclusion in the Super Swachhata League to all the sanitation workers of NDMC.

Congratulating all the honoured sanitation workers, Council member - Anil Valmiki said that every hard work gives its result and an example of this is that NDMC has joined the Super Swachhata League, which is a matter of pride for all of us. He further said that we all should work hard and diligently, so that we can achieve every target and goal. Valmiki also asked for the medical checkup of sanitation workers to be done in two parts, so that women sanitation workers will not have to go far from their workplace.

The event underscored the crucial role of field staff in maintaining New Delhi’s hygiene and reinforced NDMC’s commitment to the vision of a cleaner, healthier, and sustainable capital city. Over the past 11 years, the success of NDMC’s cleanliness initiatives has been a collective effort -- one that the Council aims to carry forward with renewed vigour.
