In a major development, it has been learned that UPSC is set to meet next week to shortlist names for the next Tamil Nadu DGP after the Supreme Court directed that a fresh appointment needs to be expeditiously made through the established procedure. Top sources say that the meeting is most likely to take place on 26th September. Sources add that the panel has around eight names, with three at the top: Mrs. Seema Agarwal, Rajeev Kumar and Sandeep Rai Rathore. UPSC will shortlist three names out of eight officers and send them back to the state to pick the next Tamil Nadu DGP. The meeting will be chaired by the UPSC Chairman and include the Union Home Secretary, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary and one nominated official by the MHA.
