A six-member SIT headed by IGP Chandigarh has been formed by Chandigarh DGP to investigate the alleged suicide of IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar. The Members of the committee are:
1. Pushpendra Kumar, IPS, IGP, UT, Chandigarh
2. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, UT Chandigarh
3. KM Priyanka, IPS, SP/City
4. Charanjit Singh Virk CPS. DSP/Traffic
5. Gurjit Kaur, CPS, SDPO/South
6. Insp Jaiveer Singh Rana. No 693/CHG SHO/PS-11 (West)
The SIT has been given wide investigative powers by the DGP to ensure effective and transparent investigation. SIT has been formed after registration of FIR against Haryana DGP and other senior IPS officers.
