The Ministry of Home Affairs has recently notified an amendment in the central deputation policy, specifically at the SP level. Earlier SP-level posts with a five-year minimum of experience were open only to CBI, NIA, R&AW, and IB. With the amended policy, it is now open to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Top sources indicate that opening doors to narcotics is intended to push for the bureau's extensive operationalisation and to optimise its manpower.
