The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has revised the empanelment guidelines for IPS officers seeking empanelment at the IG rank in the centre. The amended guidelines state that a minimum of 2 years of central experience at SP/DIG rank in the centre is mandatory for empanelment of IPS officers at IG level from the 2011 batch onwards.
