The UPSC has sent the five-name panel back to the state. Recently, the Haryana Government had sent a panel and a proposal for the appointment of a new DGP. However, UPSC has sent back the panel and proposal, citing that the process of appointing a new DGP can only be initiated on the occurrence of a vacancy, which Haryana Government doesn't have, as its full-fledged DGP, Shatrujeet Kapoor, has been sent on leave and has almost a year in hand.
