In line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and his commitment to promoting art and culture, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal today visited the Srijan Art Gallery at Nehru Park. He inspected the park to identify a suitable location where a Sculpture Park will be developed in the future. During the visit, NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, renowned Padma Shri artist Advait Gadnayak ji, senior artist Tutu Patnaik ji, and NDMC officers were present.

Chahal informed that during the inspection, it was decided to constitute a committee that will finalize the site for the Sculpture Park. Following this, NDMC will organize a month-long symposium in which around 15 eminent sculptors from across the country will be invited, including several Padma Award and National Award-winning artists. These artists will create live sculptures during the event, and each sculpture will be approximately 10–15 feet tall. He added that the finished sculptures will be installed in the newly developed Sculpture Park at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri.

Chahal further stated that to promote art and culture, NDMC established an Art & Culture Department in May 2025. This year, a budget of ?40 crore has been allocated for art and culture-related activities, which constitutes about 1% of NDMC’s total expenditure. Additionally, NDMC has created an Urban Arts & Culture Forum to systematically advance cultural activities. This forum will play a key role in showcasing and promoting the nation’s rich art and heritage.

Chahal said this initiative is a significant step towards transforming the NDMC area into a vibrant and attractive cultural district. It will provide a platform for local and national artists, boost tourism, and strengthen the foundation of the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.

In conclusion,Chahal said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions India presenting its art, culture, traditions, and creativity to the world with renewed confidence. In the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” art and culture are regarded as the soul of the nation—an element that connects society, inspires youth, and strengthens India’s identity. NDMC’s Sculpture Park is an effort to advance this vision, where creative expression, cultural pride, and the spirit of a modern India come together.
