Jatin Prasad, before joining BJP, sources say had long discussions with SP leader Akhilesh Yadav. Jitin Prasad wanted to be Brahman face of the SP and desired to campaign in all the state, if party desires, sources say. In return, he wanted to be number two in the cabinet after the ‘22 elections and also offered to present party policies in the center if given a Rajya Sabha seat. Sources say Akhilesh Yadav was agreeing to his demand but also offered him to contest the state elections from any place having Brahmin domination, in the meantime Jatin Prasad wanted to have some time before joining the SP.  Probably he was not ready to contest because he lost in 2014,2019 and also the MLA election in 2017. Sources say in the meantime he was also in constant touch with Piyush Goyal and probably BJP was ready to make him minister immediately and no pressure to contest the election.
