The recent IFFI gaffe came as shock to almost everyone ranging from some people from the film industry to the Government of India. An Israeli Jury member Nadav Lapid lamented a highly acclaimed film that opened the eyes of many and showed the real truth- The Kashmir Files. Immediately, after the incident, the Israeli Government sprung into action in damage control. However, the question or the responsibility for this gaffe also falls on the IIFFI organizers or maybe on some ministerial establishments. Top sources say that why not a thorough background check of Lapid was not conducted. Had the IFFI team conducted a thorough check they would have thought twice before inviting Lapid In IFFI. Top sources further add that though Lapid has a rich experience in filmmaking, however, he is also a politically outspoken personality and does hold some views on some issues. Some sources indicate that might be a close relationship between India and Israel acted as a factor influencing the IFFI team to ignore a deep check option for jury members. Some sources hold another view on this gaffe, they say that this time PM Modi's "testing new face or opportunity giving plan" backfired, this time an officer from Railway store services, an allied and less popular service choice was deputed to look after IFFI affairs, though an I&B official was there but how experience and effective she/he was needs to be re-think and maybe because of this an implication was drawn out that the team or the officer did not have considerable experience in theatre or filmology?
