The poor performance in just concluded state elections brought the JD(S) on the back foot source says. The ex-CM and leader of JD(S), Kumaraswamy wanted to remain in opposition but to have close relations with BJP to get support from the central government for developmental work in the constituencies source says. The ex-PM and head of JD(S), HD Devegauda, recently said that his party will not go with NDA or I.N.D.I.A. and remain as an independent political party and contest elections with a separate identity of JD(S) source says. The announcement has brought Kumaraswamy into a fix because BJP wanted to make him leader of the opposition supporting without merger or coming under the umbrella of NDA to make use of the party goodwill during parliamentary elections source says.
