BJP after great difficulty persuaded the past president Annamalai to step down. N Nagendran, originally from Annadrumuk but who joined BJP has been given the charge of state president source says. Annamalai was reluctant but after a taped conversation with a senior journalist, he was forced to keep a low profile and vacate the position. Source says. As said in conversation, he was saying that he would float a new party and all his appointed district presidents would join his new party source says. BJP has no base and never would come in the limelight source says, he added. He was conveyed that his all misdeeds were known to the party but party because he served the party would not take any action but would have to step down the source says.
