    For the past two decades, Nitish Kumar has navigated the political landscape of the state with a firm grip on power. In a bid to protect his women supporters from the scourge of domestic violence, he implemented a liquor ban nearly nine years ago. This move, however well-intentioned, has had unintended consequences, leading to a significant dent in the state's revenues. Despite mounting evidence and reports suggesting that the ban has not curbed alcohol consumption, Kumar remains steadfast in his policy source says. Now, as the upcoming state elections loom, the leaders of rival parties, RJD and Jan Suraj, are seizing the opportunity to promise voters a reevaluation of this contentious decision.
