The once-prominent alliance between Capt. Amarinder Singh, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appear to be crumbling like a house of cards. Capt. Singh, a stalwart in Punjab’s political arena, had walked into the BJP with grand ambitions, hoping to wield considerable influence within the state and potentially beyond its borders.
However, as the months passed, disillusionment set in. Despite a flurry of promises which ultimately amounted to little more than whispers in the wind, it has become glaringly evident that the BJP views him as a relic of the past, having milked whatever political clout he possessed without offering him the recognition he sought source says. Frustrated and disheartened by this unceremonious treatment, Capt. Singh is now casting glances toward his former political sanctuary, the Congress party. Whispers in the corridors of power suggest that he has already initiated talks with Sonia Gandhi, hinting at a possible reconciliation with his old comrades, should they choose to embrace him once more source says.
The political landscape in Punjab is shifting like quicksand; the BJP is desperately fighting to solidify its presence, the Akali Dal has retreated, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continues to command authority with a vice-like grip. Capt. Singh’s influence seems to be fading into the shadows, prompting the BJP to look elsewhere, eyeing seasoned Congress leaders like Manish Tewari, the MP from Chandigarh, in a bid to rejuvenate its strategy source says.
This growing urgency within BJP ranks was palpable when, despite internal hesitations, Manish Tewari's name mysteriously appeared on the delegate list for an international mission following Operation Sindoor, an inclusion that sparked contention within his own party. Yet, upon his return, he was greeted with a warm embrace, a gesture that suggests a lingering respect and recognition from his peers. This newfound admiration could very well nudge him toward contemplating a future alliance with the BJP, should he decide to make such a leap source says.
