Bihar Elections Still Runs On Caste Factor?

It's not only the state of Bihar but many states prefer to support their own caste candidates irrespective of the political alliance source says. Of course, Bihar tops the list source says. Before the distribution of tickets by the ruling alliance in Bihar, a survey was conducted by a reliable agency, which found that almost thirty sitting MLAs have lost their reliability and are unlikely to repeat sources say. The BJP based on reports started declining the tickets to those sitting MLAs but the revolt in the party also started and picked up source says.

Initially, the BJP was in a frame of mind to distribute more numbers of tickets to OBC and EBC in comparison to the upper caste but the rise of PK on the political horizon, most of the upper caste voters started preferring ‘Jansuraj ‘in comparison to the BJP., the shift in traditional voters panicked the party strategicians and ultimately they had to change their strategy source says. Now 15 Rajputs, 11 Bhumiars, 1 Kayastha and 7 Brahmins are included in the declared list of the BJP source says.

In total 35 candidates from the upper caste are contesting along with 77 OBC candidates, this includes 24 Kushwaha, 20 Vaishya, 19 Yadav and 14 Kurmis according to the included source. This has also changed the strategy of the coalition partners and in total, the NDA is contesting with 5 Muslims, last time JD(U) contested with 11 Muslims but unfortunately, all lost in the elections taking lessons from this, in these elections only four Muslims are given tickets by Nitish Kumar source says. The hidden conflict between the BJP and JD(U) is likely to affect the transfer of votes from one party to another, which is likely to affect the result and also the winning margins likely to be very less and the opposition party is likely to benefit sources say.
