Once the most powerful and influential state president of the BJP, after inevitable misunderstandings, lost the confidence of the high command and was silently replaced as state president by another political leader, who was then given the charge of vice president in the state, a source says. An ex-IPS officer resigned at the early age of 41 years to join the BJP with some intention to do better for the countrymen, but it seems his procedure was not appreciated by some leaders, and he had to vacate the president post, source says.
After leaving the state presidency, he probably thought of creating his own regional party as he was under the impression that most of the people in the BJP were his men. In case the regional party takes shape, all may join. Some Jayalalithaa party men who are in his touch would also support the regional party, and the new party would soon become an alternative to the DMK in Tamil Nadu, the source says. His activities and moves to form a regional party, perhaps brought to the notice of the senior party leader sitting in Delhi by a loyal party leader, a source says.
A paper chit with some remarks was sent to Annamalai through a political leader. After reading the chit, the source says that Annamalai stopped thinking about forming a regional party and started working again for the BJP. Only last Thursday, he was taken into custody along with hundreds of BJP workers for a protest, sources say.
