The leaders who defected from TMC became heroes in the BJP, and the party tried, through them, to defeat Mamta Banerjee and her TMC in West Bengal, a source says. Sudhendu Adhikari and Arjun Singh did not achieve the desired results in the past elections. Now, the main architect of the BJP's election strategy wants to put the burden on Dilip Ghosh, a veteran party leader, who was sent to the Lok Sabha to give Adhikari free rein, the source says.

During the last visit to the state, the HM had a long closed-door meeting with Dilip Ghosh and was probably advised to keep the newly appointed state president in good humour and ensure that in all constituencies rallies are organised in due intervals to explain the policies of the BJP and show the public the developments that took place in the BJP-ruled state, a source says.

The locals generally laugh at Dilip Ghosh's Bengali pronunciation and say that his Hindi is better than the Bengali source. This stamps the claim of the TMC that the BJP is a party of outsiders as well as the leader's source says.
