The member of parliament from Thiruvananthapuram was adopting a slightly different line from the party line and perhaps with this reasons despite many messages, Rahul Gandhi has not responded. Later on the advice of Venugopalan, he agreed to meet and discuss the party position in Kerala source says. The meeting started in the presence of the party president Kharge in a closed room. Tharoor in the first place asked Rahul Gandhi the reasons for not responding to his messages. Rahul replied that he was much annoyed thatswhy not respond, Throor said the leader is to keep dialogue open and if not happy he should have shown his anger in the reply to messages.
Tharoor further said that the party does not have any directions, nor is it planning to challenge the BJP source says. Kharge sensed the atmosphere was going in the wrong direction intervened and said we are here to discuss Kerala elections and we should stick to the agenda. Though Venugopalan was not present at the meeting, it was he who pursued Rahul Gandhi to meet him in the interest of the party because Tharoor has influence on at least four constituencies and his going with the party line is likely to benefit the party in the coming state elections source says. Tharoor requested that the party leader give him a chance to campaign for the party in the states going for elections and also felt sorry for not giving him deputy leadership or any position in the party organisation to prove himself worth source says.
Tharoor also warned the leadership that the BJP is working on a long-term plan and that to counter the Congress will have to come up soon. He added that the Modi era is not going to be completed by 2029 but is going to be extended and the plan is for delimitation of constituencies to go up to 750 members in the parliament and the south will get fewer seats in comparison to the north based on population to have control over the Hindi belt and remain in power source says the source. Things were moving on a fast track and many issues were coming up up so it was decided to have another meeting to discuss all the other issues.
