On 28 th, the plane carrying the deputy CM, Ajit Pawar crashed while landing at Baramati airport. All six including the mass leader and the most promising leader of Maharashtra died, the source says. Though the timing, political manoeuvring, and discussions between both factions are in question, opposition leaders, including Sharad Pawar, are stunned by the development, a source says. It's said that both factions of the NCP were likely to merge and Late Ajit Pawar approved during the last meeting, and it was to be announced on 12th February source said.
This all started after the failure of the talks of the NCP( Ajit faction) with the BJP on the corporation elections and Ajit Pawar wanted that both factions unitedly contest the elections on the symbol of Watch(the original symbol - presently allotted to Ajit faction) source says. Sharad Pawar wanted the merger program to move slowly to allow supporters to adjust. Now the sudden demise of Ajit Pawar probably stall the process of merger and renewed talk on the merger is likely to take some time source says. Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed on the future of the NCP source says.
