Once the most important leader of the BJP, but later slowly sidelined by the central leadership, Dilip Ghosh has done everything possible to bring the voting percentage from 4% to more than 39% in West Bengal, the source says. The rise of Shubhendu Adhikari on the horizon shadowed the light and hard work of Ghosh, and the stage reached a point where his constituency was changed, resulting in his loss of the seat, the source says. Later he thought to join the TMC and with this agenda met the Mamta Didi source says.

He conveyed to Didi that if he joins the TMC, more than 10/15 leaders would follow him, which would result in vertical division in the state BJP, the source says. It's said that Mamta Didi and Saugat Roy are in favour of taking their old friend back. Still, Abhishek Banerjee is not in favour, citing the reason that he has hit Didi below the belt many times and taking him back to the party is likely to demoralise the party workers, a source says. On the other side, the leaders in favour of taking him into TMC opine that presently the TMC has become totally green and the joining of Ghosh would result in bringing back the Bhagwa colour to the party sources say.

To recapture the power after elections, it is necessary to have support from HINDU voters and for this, the bet on Ghosh would not go to waste source says. When information of meetings with TMC leaders reached the Delhi high command, it's said Ghosh was summoned to Delhi and promised that soon he would be adjusted in the party with some authority, and after March, he would be brought to the Rajya Sabha, the source says. It's learnt that Ghosh, without committing to anything, only said that he would like to hear from the PM, according to a source.
